Oregon Ducks standout quarterback Dante Moore has landed a disappointing prediction for the 2027 NFL Draft.
At this point in time, the 2027 NFL Draft is still a long ways away. For Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore, however, the process of being a top pick in the 2027 draft has already begun.
Moore made the surprising decision to forego the 2026 NFL Draft. He opted to return to the Ducks for one more season despite many projecting him to be the No. 2 overall pick.
Looking ahead to next year's draft, the quarterback class is expected to be very deep.
Of course, the headline name for many is Texas Longhorns star Arch Manning. Outside of Manning, the other headline names at the quarterback position are Trinidad Chambliss, CJ Carr, Darian Mensah, Moore, Julian Sayin, LaNorris Sellers, and Brendan Sorsby depending on the outcome of his gambling situation.
Right now, Moore seems likely to be the second-best quarterback in the class behind Manning. However, where he will end up being selected in the draft remains a question mark.
CBS Sports analyst Chris Hummer has released a new "way-too-early" mock draft for 2027. His prediction for Moore is extremely disappointing.
Hummer has predicted that Moore will be selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 13 overall pick in the first round.
"Perhaps the best pure passer in college football a season ago, Moore is a smooth prospect with high-level production (3,565 yards, 30 TDs, 71.8%) in his starting debut for the Ducks."
Obviously, being selected at No. 13 would be way lower than what Moore would have seen if he had stayed in the 2026 draft. Slipping that far would cost the quarterback a lot of money.
Last season with Oregon, Moore put on a show. He completed 71.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, while also running for 156 yards and two more scores.
Ending up with the Steelers wouldn't be a bad situation for the Ducks star. He would be brought in to replace Aaron Rodgers, who has announced that the 2026 season in Pittsburgh will be his last. Rodgers will retire after this season.
That being said, Moore is targeting being a top-five pick at least. He'll need to put together a strong year, but avoiding this kind of slide will be a top priority.
