Oregon QB Dante Moore Lands Jarring Outlook After Big Announcement cover image

Oregon Ducks' quarterback Dante Moore received a shocking outlook for his 2026 season following his announcement of returning to the program.

With the 2025 college football season finally in the books, the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning will now shift their focus to the offseason and preparing for the upcoming year.

Following the conclusion of the season, oddsmakers were quick to release the future lines for the Heisman Trophy winner in 2026, with Oregon quarterback Dante Moore being part of the mix.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Moore is currently tied for the fourth-best odds to be the 2026 Heisman Trophy winner at +1300.

Lanning’s star quarterback is tied with Ohio State’s dynamic duo of quarterback Julian Sayin and wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, along with Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton and LSU’s Sam Leavitt. Moore is also trailing Texas quarterback Arch Manning, Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover, and Notre Dame’s CJ Carr.

After spending his freshman season with the UCLA Bruins in 2023, the former highly-touted high school prospect would enter the transfer portal and land with the Ducks. Moore would spend the 2024 season as the team’s backup quarterback, learning behind veteran quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

While some believed that Lanning would reach into the portal following Gabriel’s departure to the NFL, Oregon ended up rolling with Moore for the 2025 season. This proved to be an excellent decision, as spending a year behind Gabriel on the depth chart significantly aided his development leading up to the 2025 season.

In his first season as the program’s starting quarterback, Moore quickly gained the attention of the college football world due to his stout play at the beginning of the year. Moore began his case for the Heisman Trophy award in week five against the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road, where he threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns in the double-overtime contest.

Unfortunately for the talented playmaker, the hype would eventually die down regarding his Heisman Trophy case over the course of the 2025 regular season.

However, Moore still finished the year with an incredible stat line, throwing for 3,565 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. His two losses as the Ducks’ starting quarterback came at the hands of the Indiana Hoosiers, who went on to win the National Championship with a perfect record.

Throughout the course of the regular season, the discussion surrounding whether or not Moore would declare for the 2026 NFL Draft became a main talking point. But this would eventually be put to rest, as he recently announced that he will return to Oregon next season.
