Oregon Sets Modern-Day Program Record in Win Over Portland State

The Oregon Ducks came away with a blowout win over the Portland State Vikings, improving their record to 2-1 for the season.

Oregon was in desperate need of a strong win after falling to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a shocking upset in Week 2 that moved them down to the 21st-ranked team in the country.

The Ducks came to play in Week 3, scoring 84 points and setting a modern-day program scoring record. The defense also played well, holding the Vikings scoreless.

Oregon's offense was clicking throughout the game, as quarterback Dante Moore diced up Portland State in the first half, completing 19 of 23 passes for 280 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. 

It was a bounce-back game for Moore, who looked more composed and accurate compared to a week ago.

Dylan Raiola took over after Moore and delivered a perfect performance, completing all 11 of his pass attempts for 124 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. It was great to see this from Raiola, who will likely take over as the starting quarterback for Moore in 2027.

The Ducks had several players score touchdowns from the air, with Messiah Hampton catching two and Evan Stewart, Dakorien Moore, Kendre Harrison, Andrew Olesh, and Brady Bidwell each adding one.

The run game was also strong for Oregon, with Jordon Davison scoring twice while Brandon Smith, Tradarian Ball, and Dierre Hill Jr. all added a touchdown.

The offensive explosion was much-needed after Oregon's offense struggled in their loss to the Cowboys. 

While the win over the Vikings was expected, it was pivotal for the Ducks to get on track and dominate, building momentum for the remainder of the season. Oregon still wants to be in the mix to make the College Football Playoff and compete for a National Championship, despite struggling mightily in the first two weeks of the season.

The Ducks have plenty of work to do to continue moving up the AP Poll rankings, but this strong win was a great start, and if they can get a win over the USC Trojans in Week 4, it could catapult them up the rankings once again.
