Oregon Star A’Mauri Washington Joins Elite Defensive Line in 2027 Mock Draft

Oregon Ducks star A'Mauri Washington enters the 2026 season as one of the best defensive tackles in the country.

Washington didn't post much in the box score in the Ducks' win over the Boise State Broncos in their Week 1 matchup. In the 2025 season, Washington played at a high level, recording 33 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and eight pass deflections. 

With his production, he is expected to be one of the top defensive tackles off the board in the 2027 NFL Draft.

In Fox Sports' latest mock draft, Washington lands with the New York Giants with the 10th overall pick. 

If he had declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, he could've been a first-round selection, but he opted to return to Oregon for another season, giving him a chance to compete for a National Championship.

If he posts another productive season, he will solidify his place as a first-round talent for the upcoming draft. 

The Ducks will need Washington and the defense to improve for the remainder of the season. They narrowly escaped with a win over Boise State, and their defense struggled to get stops. 

Oregon generated three sacks, but they allowed the Broncos to play an efficient game through the air, finishing with 181 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

They were able to hold Boise State on the ground to an inefficient day as Dylan Riley rushed for 50 yards on 17 carries (2.9 yards per carry) and Sire Gaines to 39 yards on 11 carries (3.5 yards per carry).

That is a credit to Washington and the Ducks' run defense and is a good sign moving forward. However, they will need to be more consistent on the defensive side of the ball earlier in the game if they want to compete with the top teams in the country.

Washington and Oregon have a lot to prove this season, as Washington could end up as a first-round pick and the Ducks could make a deep run in the College Football Playoff.
