Oregon was able to get one of the top defensive recruits in the 2027 class, and even better, they stole him away from a conference opponent.

The Oregon Ducks are one of the premier football programs in the nation when it comes to a multitude of categories. They have some of the best coaches, the best facilities, and the best opportunity to play at the next level once you leave the program.

For those reasons, Eugene will always be one of the most enticing destinations a high-level athlete coming out of high school could consider. This has led to the University of Oregon being a powerhouse in football for the last few decades.

Transfers absolutely help, but to keep a winning culture intact, that stems from recruiting legitimate talent and keeping them in the building over the course of their college careers.

Recruiting is the lifeblood that keeps a program's success consistent, and Oregon just landed yet another top-tier recruit. Better yet, they were able to steal him away from one of the conference rivals.

Oregon Steals 4-Star DL Zane Rowe From Washington

The University of Oregon and the University of Washington have a rivalry dating back to the now-dissolved Pac-12. They are so close together that they've often times found themselves fighting over the same recruits up and down the West Coast.

This time around, when it came to four-star defensive lineman Zane Rowe, Oregon came out the victor.

Rowe is a 6'3 256lb defensive lineman out of Denton, TX. As a member of the 2027 class, he still has his senior year to play, but he showed just how dominant he is over the course of his junior year.

As a junior, Rowe recorded 72 total tackles and an unbelievable 24 sacks. Oregon may have landed an absolute freak show, seeing as how he also has track experience in the high jump.

Rowe was originally committed to the University of Oklahoma in 2024, but backed off of that commitment early in 2025. Since then, he had been deciding between one of the 30 total offers he had from schools, including Oregon, Washington, North Carolina, Ohio State, and others.

It eventually came down to two stellar schools in Oregon and Washington after two visits. After visiting the Ducks in Eugene, Rowe said, "There's just something about Oregon. When I stepped on campus, it felt special."
