Oregon Ducks star tight end Jamari Johnson is predicted to land with an AFC contender in the 2027 NFL Draft.
The Oregon Ducks opened their season with a 34-27 win over the Boise State Broncos. While it was a close game for the Ducks, some of their top players showcased their talent, giving hope that they could make a deep run in the College Football Playoff.
Star tight end Jamari Johnson is one of the players who performed well for Oregon, as he had four receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Johnson returned to the Ducks for another season, even though he could've been selected early in the 2026 NFL Draft had he declared. In the 2025 season, Johnson finished with 32 receptions for 510 yards and three touchdowns.
He will have a bigger role in Oregon's offense as their other tight end, Kenyon Sadiq, went to the NFL after the 2025 season. Sadiq had a major role in the Ducks' offense, as he had 51 receptions for 560 yards and eight touchdowns.
The New York Jets selected Sadiq with the 16th overall pick in the draft, and Johnson could emerge as the next Oregon tight end to be a first-round pick in the NFL.
USA TODAY Network via Reuters ConnectIn Fox Sports' latest mock draft, Johnson is predicted to land with the Denver Broncos with the 20th overall pick in the draft.
This would unite Johnson with former Ducks star quarterback Bo Nix and could be an elite tandem for the Broncos as they look to win the Super Bowl. Denver could use an elite tight end on offense, and Johnson could be a perfect fit for their roster.
Johnson will continue to be one of the top targets for star quarterback Dante Moore. Moore had a great start to the 2026 season, as he completed 28 of 37 passes for 378 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Oregon's offense has a ton of firepower, and they showcased it in their comeback win over Boise State on Saturday.
The Ducks have a talented roster, and Johnson will be a key piece in unlocking the offense's full potential as they look to make a trip to the National Championship Game.
