Teitum Tuioti is redefining the Ducks' identity. After a dominant 9.5-sack season, the explosive junior linebacker anchors a ferocious defense poised to fuel Oregon’s national championship pursuit.

The sheer number of skilled players on the Oregon Ducks offense gets most of the hype in the national media.

When most people in the country think of Oregon, they think of flashy and speedy offenses. The 2026 Ducks will have that, with Evan Stewart and Dakorien Moore catching passes from Dante Moore.

Running back Jordon Davison is poised for a breakout year if the offensive line is good.

The Ducks’ ability to win the College Football Playoff national championship could rest on the defense. Oregon has several playmakers on defense, and that could be the difference for head coach Dan Lanning in Year 5.

Brad Crawford of CBS Sports ranked Oregon linebacker Teitum Tuioti as the No. 21 most feared defender in college football for the upcoming season.

"The two-year starter for the Ducks recorded a career-best 9.5 sacks as a junior and brings an old-school mentality to the position," Crawford wrote. "Oregon rarely misses on linebackers during the recruiting process, and Tuioti is another star.

"He plays with natural leverage, closes downhill with authority, and finishes under control, all qualities coaching staffs look for in a difference-maker in the middle or on the outside."

The six-foot-three, 263-pound athlete can get after the passer. He created two forced fumbles last season and made 68 total tackles.

“Teitum should have been on everybody’s radar,” Lanning said. “You knew the first time you saw him that this guy’s a playmaker. I remember telling him whenever we were recruiting Teitum, Teitum’s going to be an all-conference player and it’s because of what he’s learned from his dad.”

Tony Tuioti, Teitum's father, coaches Oregon's defensive line. There's no doubt his father has helped develop him into an elite defender at the college level.

Last year, Lanning said Teitum is a player who should become a household name.

“Teitum should have been on everybody’s radar,” Lanning said, via Sports Illustrated. “You knew the first time you saw him that this guy’s a playmaker.

"I remember telling him whenever we were recruiting Teitum, Teitum’s going to be an all-conference player and it’s because of what he’s learned from his dad.”

Teitum could make a strong case for the 2027 NFL Draft if he can improve his sack total to the double digits this season.
