Oregon's disaster of a season got significantly worse on Monday thanks to the wide receiver room.

This was the news of the day that happened overnight from Sunday into Monday. The story broke early on Monday morning that star wide receiver Evan Stewart was arrested and booked on a DUII charge overnight.

If that wasn't bad enough, rumors circulated that nearly the entire Oregon wide receiver group was involved in the incident where Stewart got in trouble and that there was a high-speed chase in Eugene. The alleged story is that the players were racing and got caught.

Further, the person who had to bail Stewart out of jail was teammate Dakorien Moore because they couldn't get a hold of head coach Dan Lanning because he was sleeping.

Can't imagine what it felt like waking up to what you can only assume were several missed calls from many suspicious numbers while he was trying to turn a program around.

From top to bottom, this scenario is such a complete and total disaster for the Ducks. It is that type of selfish behavior that indicates the culture of a program. Yes, the year has been hard, but making boneheaded decisions like the ones that the entire group allegedly made is a very tough look for all parties involved.

From the Oregon football perspective, how much worse can this year get for the Ducks? This is a team that was the odds-on favorite to win the National Championship this year. They have the most expensive roster in the sport, a veteran quarterback, a great defense, and some of the best skill players in the entire sport.

Turns out, all of those elements were all for not. They have not played even one game this year that wasn't without stress. They got the season going, needing a heroic comeback victory against Boise State; they got drubbed by the Oklahoma State Cowboys; they needed another heroic effort against USC; they played one of the worst games ever against UCLA; and then they needed a comeback against Nebraska.

It has been tumultuous, to say the least, for the Ducks, to go along with losing their starting quarterback to what is now likely a career-ending concussion for Dante Moore. Now, add this situation to the list, and this has been as bad a year as you could have.

How you come back from a situation like this is a really tough proposition. This is a major culture issue within the program that needs to be addressed. Problems on the field happen, and those are fine. Once you go out into the public and cause problems in the community and put people's lives at risk, things need to change.

We'll see how the Ducks respond but when it feels like rock bottom, things just get a little bit worse.
