It's no secret that Oregon is loaded with dynamic talent, but talent can only take you so far. This position group has the chance to send Oregon to a place it hasn't been before.

The University of Oregon is projected to be one of the top teams in college football, but there’s one aspect that may end up being the driving force to its success.

No, it’s not the run game. The Ducks rushing attack has already been well established, and running the ball requires space.

And no, it won’t be the passing attack, because in order to have a quality passing game, you need time in the pocket.

Time and space is created by a quality offensive line, which is what will end up being the major driver to Oregon’s success.

Last season, the Ducks had one of the more efficient offensive lines in the nation, only allowing 1.4 sacks per game. However, with the departures of left tackle Isaiah World, guard Emmanuel Pregnon, and right tackle Alex Harkey, you wonder if that same efficiency will be on display next season.

The o-line is the straw that stirs the drink for the offense. If there’s leaks in the line, everyone suffers.

For the 2026 season, the Ducks will bring back center Poncho Laloulu and right guard Dave Iuli.

Newcomers Fox Crader, Douglas Utu, and Michael Bennett will likely start up front in place of the ones who departed for the NFL.

Both Crader and Utu saw some time last season and thrived in limited snaps. Crader was one of the Ducks’ most efficient pass blockers, with an 88.0 PFF grade, but was limited as a run blocker.

Utu, on the other hand, is a sophomore entering this season who carries a lot of promise.

A former four-star recruit, Utu can play anywhere along the offensive line. But what’s mostly impressive about him is his athleticism. He’s quick enough to move laterally, but has the toughness to pack a punch in the trenches.

Bennett is a lesser known talent, coming from Yale. He was one of the Ivy League’s top tackles, though given his struggles against Lehigh and Montana State last season, there’s a reason for pause.

In the event that Bennett ends up being the weak link, there’s always potential for Utu to slide outside, while top recruit and interior lineman Immanuel Iheanacho takes the reins.

Oregon may have championship-caliber talent across the board, but if the Ducks fall short, the cracks will likely appear where games are won first, at the line of scrimmage.
