Oregon WR Dakorien Moore Speaks on Oregon's Program Altering Decisions

Oregon's star wide receiver Dakorien Moore speaks on the Ducks' major moves this week.

Oregon wide receiver Dakorien Moore had himself a very interesting past 10 days. It included losses on the field, him having to bail one of his closest teammates out of jail, his offensive coordinator getting fired, and his quarterback announcing that he is going to hang up his cleats for the rest of the year.

That is a lot to take in for anyone, let alone a young man in college.

On Tuesday, Moore was in front of the microphone at the podium, and he spoke on all of the situations from the past week and had some very honest opinions on the football part of the week.

First, he shared his thoughts on the firing of offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer. Mehringer took over for Will Stein after Stein was hired away from Oregon to take over the head coaching job at Kentucky.

Truth be told, the Ducks' offense, which was supposed to be one of the best in the country, never got out of first gear. However, that is not the way that Moore saw it.

Moore said to reporters that he was surprised by the decision. From his perspective, Mehringer was a good coordinator and more importantly, was a good contributor to the team. While Moore was surprised, he acknowledged that it is a next-man-up mentality for the Ducks and that includes the coaching staff.

Then, Moore was asked about his quarterback, Dante Moore, who decided this week that he is not going to be playing for the Ducks at all for the remainder of the season.

DK said that this decision for his quarterback was "heartbreaking" because of the personal relationship that he had with his quarterback. Dante Moore was one of the first people to welcome DK Moore to Oregon and was one of the first people to talk to him.

That's a really tough situation for the young wide receiver to be in, but that's the reality of the situation in Eugene. It has been a complete disaster of a season, and a lot of things feel uncomfortable right now within the program.

While the Ducks' chances at the postseason are likely way over, they still have two opportunities in the next two weeks to get a pretty big win. The first one comes this weekend against the Northwestern Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.

Northwestern has been one of the great surprises of the year, and they are currently ranked 20th in the country, knocking at the door of the College Football Playoffs.

Then, next week is one of the potential games of the year against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Oregon and Ohio State square up in Columbus in a game that could determine a lot of things for the Buckeyes.

The Ducks are playing for pride right now, and they are going to do it without their quarterback and with a new play caller.
