With all the drama surrounding the 2026 transfer portal beginning to heat up, Penn State Nittany Lions’ fans recently found out a familiar face to the program will be on the move before next season
According to CBS’s Matt Zenitz on Thursday, former Penn State and Missouri quarterback Beau Pribula plans on entering the transfer portal.
Pribula, a former three-star quarterback in the Nittany Lions’ historic 2022 recruiting class, entered a tough situation as soon as he set foot on campus. The young prospect out of York, PA, was overshadowed by five-star quarterback Drew Allar, who would eventually become the program’s starting quarterback in 2023.
In his two seasons with Penn State, Pribula saw a decent amount of playing time as a backup, throwing for 424 yards and nine touchdowns. Pribula also played a key role in the team’s rushing attack over the two years, tallying 571 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 94 carries.
However, after spending his first three college seasons with the Nittany Lions, Pribula ultimately decided to hit the portal following the conclusion of the 2024 season. This led to the young quarterback signing with the Missouri Tigers, where he would finally receive his chance to become a starting quarterback.
Luckily for the highly-touted playmaker, he would dominate in 2025 with the Tigers. Pribula ended his 2025 campaign with 1,941 passing yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games, but was cut short after suffering a severe left ankle injury against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Oct. 25.
Now, with one year left of eligibility, Pribula has an opportunity to become a starting quarterback elsewhere for the 2026 college football season. There is a chance that the former in-state recruit could return to Penn State, but other schools such as Virginia Tech and newly-hired head coach James Franklin could be in the mix for the rising star.
If Pribula does not wind up back in State College for the 2026 season, Nittany Lions’ head coach Matt Campbell still possesses former 2023 four-star quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer for the upcoming season.
After a rough couple of starts, once Allar was ruled out for the rest of the 2025 season, Grunkemeyer quickly found his footing and played a massive role in the program’s late-season push for a bowl game bid. Grunkemeyer ended the 2025 regular season throwing for 1,079 yards and six touchdowns, while also completing 69 percent of his pass attempts.
