Tickets for Saturday's matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers have totally bottomed out.
Every direction you look and no matter the angle that you take, this year has been a colossal disaster for the Penn State Nittany Lions program.
Thursday was yet another reminder of just how bad this season has been for both the players and the Penn State community.
With still three days until the football game, tickets for Penn State and Purdue have nearly hit rock bottom, and the get-in price is just $6 (six) dollars.
Yes, to get into Beaver Stadium on Saturday, it will cost a family of four just $24. It is truly a sad state of affairs, and it underscores the atrocity that this season has become. The worst part about it is that there is very little bright side that the Nittany Lions can lean on or look forward to.
The 2026 season has truly become a lost campaign, one that will be quickly forgotten in the history of the Penn State program. This also points to the urgency that head coach Matt Campbell must have on a daily basis if he wants to continue to coach and keep his job.
Whether you like him or not, Campbell's seat is warming up, and it will get 'hot' if he is unable to get the job done this weekend against the Purdue Boilermakers. Don't be mistaken; this is absolutely not a bad Purdue team.
While they enter Saturday's matchup with a 4-3 record, they are in the process of turning the corner as a program. They barely lost to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons early in the season in double overtime, and then last week, they lost to Washington by two scores, but they did it in a game where they forced five turnovers. They just could not capitalize.
Purdue is absolutely good enough to beat Penn State, and the Nittany Lions cannot let that happen, no matter what.
One major positive for Penn State is the potential return of wide receiver Koby Howard. Howard was amazing to start the football season, but while he scampered for a huge touchdown against Buffalo, he injured himself on the play and has been out for over a month.
He is listed as questionable as of Wednesday, and his return would change a lot of things for the Nittany Lions.
Regardless of it all, Penn State simply needs to win. It doesn't natter how they do it or what they need to do; they just need to do it.
For Nittany Lions fans, you'll be able to get into the game for less than what it will cost you for a halftime beer.
