Beaver Stadium's facelift is coming together as we approach 100 days until Week One.
Beaver Stadium in Happy Valley is finally getting a well-deserved and much-needed facelift as we inch closer to the beginning of the 2026 season.
In May of 2024, Penn State approved a $700 million renovation of Beaver Stadium. Penn State has been playing in the exact same, albeit historic, stadium for decades, and it is finally getting a facelift.
The revitalization project is centered around improving the fan and community experience for all of those who use it. This will improve the facility for all 31 Penn State programs and will make the stadium usable for 365 days out of the year.
The first step in the project was completed nearly a year and a half ago. The press box was demolished on January 4th, 2025, and the rebuild ensued.
Construction took place all throughout the season in 2025, and now, the end is in sight. On Monday, Mike Poorman (@PSUPoorman) shared a live video of the most recent update on the progress.
More importantly, this post is a reminder that we are nearing 100 days until the start of the 2026 season. Penn State opens up its season on September 5th, 2026, against the Marshall Thundering Herd inside this stadium that is being worked on.
Much like the stadium, the actual football program is going through its own facelift that is garnering a ton of excitement.
From the team's perspective, the feeling around this program is so positive and so much different than what it used to be under the past regime. Matt Campbell came in and has done a total 180-degree change since he got there.
He was fighting an uphill battle as he was hired late and took over a program that was truly in shambles after James Franklin was fired. The Nittany Lions came off a horrific season last year and were dealing with a lot of uncertainty and tons of transfers, and no recruits to fill in behind them.
It didn't matter. Campbell saved the program, re-established it's identiry and began to build it brick by brick.
Now, as it stands, Penn State is one of the top programs in the country that people are excited to see next year. There is a healthy level of curiosity surrounding the program and what Matt Campbell can do to turn them into a winner again.
He and the program will be starting fresh inside of a newly renovated Beaver Stadium
