The Big Ten announces a record-setting distribution to its member schools for the 2025 year.

The monster is continuing to grow, and that monster is college athletics. On Friday, the Big Ten announced a record-setting distribution to its member schools.

In the 2025 fiscal year, the Big Ten netted a staggering $1.47 billion dollars. For comparison's sake, in 2024, the conference had a modest year, distributing $883 millions dollars while they will be distributing $1.37 billion after 2025.

The numbers are massive, and not each member school receives an equal cut. Surprisingly enough, despite a disappointing year for the Nittany Lions, they won't be getting paid out as such.

Ohio State netted the biggest payout, receiving $91.55 million, while Penn State checks in at second place, receiving $88.9 million. Probably the most shocking is that the football conference champion and eventual National Champion, the Indiana Hoosiers, check in at third place, getting $81 million.

The next 13 schools are in the $76-$79 million range, and the two bottom feeders are likely the most surprising of them all. Washington checks in at last place, only receiving $46 million, and one spot ahead of them, the Oregon Ducks, are only netting $48 million.

The last decade has been pretty incredible for the conference. In just the last three years, the football national champion has been from the Big Ten: Michigan, Ohio State, and Indiana.

The 2025-26 season was the first time that one conference was responsible for the National Champion in the three major sports. Indiana grabbed the football title, Michigan won the men's basketball title, and then UCLA won the women's title.

Sustained success is now the goal for the conference. They will either do that by continuing to develop elite programs or gobble up the rest of the top schools. While that statement is somewhat in jest, the Big Ten is in an awesome spot.

For Penn State, they need to hold up their end of the bargain. They somehow came out of this last coaching cycle looking really good after a very bleak outlook. They were on the cusp and on the verge of becoming irrelevant from a sports perspective.

Matt Campbell has the chance to save the football program, but there is still plenty of work to be done in all of the other sports.

A record-setting day in the Big Ten, and something tells me that these numbers will only continue to get bigger and bigger.
