Things certainly did not go according to plan for Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar in 2025.
Allar returned to school for an extra year hoping to bolster his NFL Draft stock, which was already pretty high to begin with.
Had Allar entered the 2025 NFL Draft, he probably would have been a high first-round pick, but he opted to spend another season at Happy Valley for some more seasoning.
Instead, Allar had a rough showing in six games before going down for the remainder of the campaign with an ankle injury.
Now, the 21-year-old is generally being viewed as a Day 3 selection this April, but there are a select few who believe that Allar should stun some people on draft day.
Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus is clearly one of those individuals, as he projected Allar to go to the Indianapolis Colts with the 78th overall pick. That's a rather early third-round selection.
The Colts are currently weighing what to do under center following Daniel Jones' torn Achilles. Jones is hitting free agency and indications are that Indianapolis wants to bring him back, but either way, he will be missing some time in 2026.
Anthony Richardson looks like he is just about done in Indy, so the Colts may have to look for a new quarterback this spring.

No one has ever really doubted Allar's talent. He has drawn comparisons to Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen for a reason.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound signal-caller possesses tremendous arm strength and impressive athleticism, and he certainly put together some brilliant stretches throughout his run at Penn State.
In 2023, for example, Allar's first full season as the Nittany Lions' starting signal-caller, he threw for 25 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
Then, in 2024, the Medina, Oh. native finished with 3,327 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight picks while completing 66.5 percent of his passes.
A capable dual threat, Allar may actually have more raw potential than any quarterback in this draft class, including Fernando Mendoza.
Because it's a rather weak class for signal-callers in general, it is possible that Allar sneaks into Day 2. And even if he falls between Rounds 4 and 7, there is a chance that Allar becomes the biggest steal in the entire draft.
And if Allar does land with the Colts? He would be able to reunite with his former Penn State teammate, tight end Tyler Warren.
