Executives Weigh in On Penn State's Saquon Barkley Possibly Being Traded

NFL scouts and executives are monitoring Saquon Barkley.

Former Penn State star Saquon Barkley now finds himself in a position where he could end up on his third team in his NFL career over the next 10 or so days. Barkley, who was arguably the best player in Penn State history during his time with the program, has found a ton of success in the NFL.

If it hadn't been for some injuries, we would likely be looking at Barkley as one of the best running backs that's ever suited up in this league, with many already believing that he's among them.

Unfortunately for Barkley, especially if he wants to stay in Philadelphia, playing in his home state and where he went to college, there's a scenario where he's going to be traded because of how bad the Eagles have been over the first two months of the season.

The unfortunate reality is that the Eagles have dealt with injuries on both sides of the football, and as a result, guys are going to be available.

It remains uncertain whether the Eagles will move on from Barkley, but according to the latest from FOX, a couple of sources have questioned whether Barkley could be available.

“Based on conversations with multiple executives and scouts, NFL teams are watching at least three players on each squad.

“For the Eagles, they are expected to at least field offers for cornerback Riq Woolen, guard Landon Dickerson and tight end Dallas Goedert, those sources told me. One scout added defensive tackle Moro Ojomo to the list, and at least two sources wondered about running back Saquon Barkley,” FOX wrote.

It's really tough to say that Barkley should be traded, and there are some reasons that have to be considered, including him having such a big fan base because of what he did at Penn State, as crazy as that might sound.

Because of what he was able to do at Penn State, and the number of Penn State fans who also happen to be Eagles fans, he's grown into a fan favorite for a very long time now.

Moving on from fan favorites can often be difficult, especially one who has played at the level Barkley has, with the Eagles likely hoping that they can contend after this season.

At the same time, Eagles fans might understand why this has to happen. If Philadelphia were to get an offer it can't refuse for Barkley, not taking it would be somewhat questionable if we factor everything in.

I still doubt he gets traded, but I can at least see why there's a scenario in which he gets dealt because of the season they've had.
