Former Penn State quarterback Drew Allar has definitely taken his fair share of heat ever since being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Not only has some of the fan base already started to say that he's not the future quarterback for this organization, but it also has to do with the organization going out and signing Aaron Rodgers, trying to win a QB2 job against Will Howard and Mason Rudolph, as well as even some former Steelers players, and an all-time great in Ben Roethlisberger, coming out and saying that he isn't going to be what the Steelers are expecting him to be one day.

There are others in the football world who don't think Allar is in a bad spot, and I'm of the belief that there's really nothing to be worried about yet. As long as Allar develops at the level that everybody's hoping and expecting him to, there are a lot of reasons to believe that he can be one of the more intriguing players in the NFL in the future.

That isn't to say he's going to be a superstar quarterback in the future, but he definitely has the tools to be a starter, and that's what the Steelers are looking for after Rodgers decides to hang up his cleats after next season.

Learning from Rodgers should also be a benefit, and former quarterback Brady Quinn believes that will be the case.

"I look at it and say maybe it's the best thing for him," Quinn said, H/T Steelers Depot. "Because whatever he was taught, if they feel like it wasn't going to work, then why try to keep going that direction? At least this way, he'll be able to do things that are expected of him at the NFL level and do it the right way.

"And with Rodgers, they at least have a year for him to learn, grow, and develop. We know he's got a year to be able to get all this stuff down and improve and develop into the quarterback that they hope he can be. So, I'm not as concerned because I don't think it's a rush to put him in there.”

These are definitely much different words than what Roethlisberger said about Allar earlier in the week, so I think there are some fair points to both sides. Of course, Roethlisberger has found out what it takes to play at the highest level in the NFL and has done it for a lot of his career, but that doesn't mean that he's going to be right about Allar, and Penn State fans are hoping that won't be the case.
