Micah Parsons has made Penn State proud during his career in the NFL.
The 2021 first-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys had earned All-Pro honors four times and has five Pro Bowl nominations.
In just five seasons in the league, Parsons has recorded 297 tackles, 65 sacks, 11 forced fumbles and 10 passes defensed.
Due to contract disputes last offseason, the Cowboys traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. With the first-team All-Big Ten linebacker, the Packers made a run at the playoffs.
Unfortunately for Parsons, the defensive end suffered a season-ending ACL injury in December. That crushed the Packers’ hopes of making the Super Bowl after going all-in on the Penn State legend.
During a recent appearance on a podcast on Bleacher Report, Parsons claimed the Cowboys almost traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, the Cowboys wanted defensive tackle Jalen Carter in return, something Parsons would not agree to.
"So, to be honest with you, bro, it was very close," Parsons said. "It was very close. Eagles before the Jaelan Phillips, before all of them, it was me. And I was really about to come. But there was one person I had to play with and if he was gone, I didn't want to be there and that was Jalen Carter.
"They wanted a D-tackle. And they wanted to trade me, plus some picks. I mean I don't really care about the picks, but I'm going to play next to JC, you feel me? Yeah. Sorry Cowboys fans, it really almost happened.'
The Eagles would have packed a serious punch with two former Penn State players leading their respective units. Running back Saquon Barkley was key to the Eagles Super Bowl run in 2024.
Instead, the Packers have a franchise pass-rusher for seasons to come.
Last week, Parsons told Clarance Hill of DLLS Cowboys that he wished things had worked out between himself and Dallas during the 2025 offseason.
“I just wish some of those things never happened. You know what I mean?,” Parsons said. “I wish that he never brought me into the office and just let the agent speak. And I wish he hadn’t compromised our relationship.
"I thought me and Jerry had a good relationship up to that point until this offseason, and it’s sad that it went to (expletive) like that.”
At least Jones doesn't have to face Parsons twice a year in the NFC East.
