Former Penn State Nittany Lions star Saquon Barkley has received a major injury update after exiting in Week 2 of the NFL season.
Former Penn State Nittany Lions star running back Saquon Barkley left the Philadelphia Eagles Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans with a stinger.
Barkley finished the game with nine yards on four carries, and he did not practice early this week. However, Barkley received good MRI results on Thursday and returned to practice with the Eagles as a limited participant.
This is big news for Philadelphia, as Barkley is one of the best running backs in the league when he is on the field.
Barkley has had a great career in both college and the NFL. He was impressive in all three years at Penn State, including rushing for 1,076 yards and seven touchdowns, along with 20 receptions for 161 yards and a touchdown in his freshman season.
In his sophomore season, Barkley was even better, rushing for 1,496 yards and 18 touchdowns while catching 28 passes for 402 yards and four touchdowns.
Barkley was named an All-American and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting in his junior season, rushing for 1,271 yards and 18 touchdowns, and catching 54 passes for 632 yards and three touchdowns.

In his NFL career, he has earned impressive accolades, including the Offensive Rookie of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year Awards.
Barkley finished third in MVP voting in the 2024 season, rushing for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns, along with 33 receptions for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
He has been dynamic as a rusher and receiver and is expected to play in Week 3 for Philadelphia against the Chicago Bears.
The Nittany Lions are off to a 3-0 start in the Matt Campbell era, but don't have a lead back as they did with Barkley. It's been a running-back-by-committee approach by Campbell's group, with four running backs over 100 yards on the season.
Carson Hansen has led the team with 169 rushing yards, while Quinton Martin Jr. has 138, James Peoples has 132, and Cam Wallace has 121.
Penn State's rushing attack was better in Week 3, but they will need to be consistent as they look to reach the College Football Playoff.
Nittany Lions fans can be excited as Campbell's team is off to a great start, and their former star Barkley avoided a major injury and will be back on the field soon.
