Penn State is making a ton of changes to Beaver Stadium, a very exciting time for all fans. Beaver Stadium, already considered one of the best venues in college football, will be expanded, a project the university has been working on for quite some time.
If you drive past State College on any given day, you'll probably see a lot going on at Beaver Stadium, and I don't think that's going to change even after a lot of this is done.
Still, this decision will help everyone involved, as ultimately, spending more money will make more money for the university.
Making more money also allows other programs to benefit from the football program, as that's the main moneymaker in State College.
Recently speaking about why and how things are going on that front, I thought AD Pat Kraft had a lot of good things to say. He wants Penn State to continue to have one of the best venues in America for college football, which it has been for a very long time, and added that this is to help the other programs out.
“We’re creating a game day experience worthy of the greatest fans in college sports,” Kraft said, per BWI. “Expanded concourses, modern amenities, upgraded premium spaces, enhanced technology and improved accessibility will ensure Beaver Stadium remains one of the most iconic and intimidating venues in America for decades to come.”
“Every decision we make is rooted in a simple purpose: providing our student-athletes with every opportunity to succeed while positioning Penn State Athletics to pursue championships across all 31 sports for generations to come,” he wrote. “The momentum is real. The future is bright. And we’re just getting started.”
There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to Penn State athletics. The focus will continue to be on football, even if Kraft says the right things like this.
At the end of the day, football is what makes the school money, and that's fine in a sense. It'll be interesting to see how everything looks in the end, but I'm excited about all that's going to happen.
