The Penn State Nittany Lions finally got their start times for the first three games of their 2026-27 campaign.
While the season is still so far away, it is inching closer, and Penn State fans everywhere are begging for it to begin. While for the most part, most fans have all but washed the end of last year from their memories, there will still be lasting memories of it until the Nittany Lions take the field again.
When they do, it will be under the tutelage of new head coach Matt Campbell. The start of the Campbell era in Happy Valley has been very, very good. He has recruited his tail off and rebuilt the foundation of the Penn State roster.
Now, the last thing he has to do is take his team and win football games.
Sounds easy, right?
For the Nittany Lions in 2026, their schedule came together nicely. They got the easier end of the Big Ten schedule, and their out-of-conference games are all must-wins for all intents and purposes.
After last year, the Nittany Lions will take absolutely nothing for granted and will need to show up each and every Saturday in the fall.
On Thursday, the NCAA did something new: they released the start times for a quarter of each team's games to start the year.
For Penn State, they got the start times for their first three weeks against Marshall, Temple, and Buffalo.
Week one opens up inside Beaver Stadium with a 3:30 PM kickoff in a game that they open as -24.5 point favorites, and they need to win and look good.
Then, in weeks two and three they play at noon both games.
While week two looks and feels like it should be a cakewalk, it is going to be an incredible test. Beating Temple isn't a cakewalk to begin with; doing it inside Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia makes it all the more challenging.
Once they get through with their openers, they then host Wisconsin, visit Northwestern, and then host USC to close the first half of the season. The most important kick time to learn is the USC one.
That game is a prime White Out candidate unless FOX ruins it by making that game a Big Noon Kickoff.
Penn State's first three games are officially on the clock, and September can't come soon enough.
