Penn State Nittany Lions legend Saquon Barkley is facing an injury concern after Week 2 NFL action.
There are quite a few former Penn State Nittany Lions players having successful NFL careers. Very few of them have had more success than star running back Saquon Barkley.
During Barkley's three seasons at Penn State, the running back was one of the most feared players in college football. He racked up 3,843 rushing yards across three years to go along with 43 touchdowns on 671 carries. Barkley also recorded 102 receptions for 1,195 yards and eight touchdowns through the air.
Following his tenure with the Nittany Lions, Barkley was drafted by the New York Giants with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Right off the bat, it was clear that Barkley's game was going to transfer well to the professional level. As a rookie, he recorded 1,307 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 261 carries.
Barkley played the first six years of his NFL career with the Giants before signing with the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles before the 2024 season. His last two years have been huge with the Eagles.
Unfortunately, Barkley suffered an injury on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. He was forced out of the game and only recorded four rushes for nine yards.
A new update was shared after the game about his health status.
According to a report from ESPN's Tim McManus, the former Penn State superstar will be undergoing an MRI. Those results will be known at some point in the near future.
Penn State fans know just how devastating it would be for the Eagles to lose Barkley to injury. His presence is integral to Nick Sirianni's offensive success. Without him on the field, Philadelphia would have to change up the game plan.
Hopefully, the Eagles get good news on Barkley from the MRI. In the meantime, the Nittany Lions faithful will send positive thoughts to the NFL star.
While he may not play for Penn State anymore, the fans in Happy Valley still love Barkley. His time with the Nittany Lions will be remembered for years to come.
