The Penn State coaching staff is continuing to piece together their recruiting class after they got off to a slow start following the firing of the staff

One of the major issues with the Penn State timeline this offseason is that they fired James Franklin and his staff, and in doing so, destroyed the recruiting class.

It didn't help them that they were one of the last schools to hire the head coach, Matt Campbell, so not only did they have no commitments to their name, they also were last to sit down at the table.

Campbell and his new staff walked into a nearly impossible situation and a major uphill battle to fight.

They didn't run from it; they ran to it, and they are piecing together a decent class for the future of the program.

It would be very unrealistic to think that they are going to put together a top-10 or even a top-25 recruiting class for 2027, but they can't let the foundation go by the wayside.

On Monday, they landed another recruit in what has been a very good stretch for them on the recruiting trail. Three-star athlete Ka'ron Ceaser committed to Penn State in the class of 2027.

Ceaser reigns from New Jersey and has helped lead Winslow Township to two straight State Championships. Ceaser played both sides of the ball at wide receiver and running back while contributing on the defensive side of the ball at cornerback. The plan is that he will focus on being a defensive back for the Nittany Lions.

He had 18 scholarship offers and has cancelled official visits to Virginia Tech and Syracuse.

Ceaser cited that he chose Penn State because of the trust that he has in Matt Campbell and the coaching staff to help " guide (him) in the right direction off the field." He said that he will take care of the field with his work ethic.

Ceaser is the third commitment that the Nittany Lions have landed in the past week when they nabbed two other three-star prospects, Zachary Gleason and Semajay Robinson, who will all be defensive backs.

The encouraging part about this early class is that they now have one kid from Pennsylvania, one from Florida, and Caesar from New Jersey. They are regaining their national footprint while still executing in the state of Pennsylvania.

According to 247Sports, Penn State currently has the 46th-ranked recruiting class for 2027.
