Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar will be throwing at the NFL Scouting Combine in spite of undergoing ankle surgery back in the fall, and he will surely be generating quite a bit of hype in the process.
Remember: Allar entered 2025 widely viewed as one of the top talents in the 2026 NFL Draft class, and some felt he could the No. 1 overall pick.
A rough first six games followed by a season-ending injury obviously put the kibosh on that for Allar, but one could still make the argument that the Penn State product remains the most talented quarterback in this year's group.
While Allar won't be a first-round pick, there certainly exists a world in which he can sneak into Day 2, and while some have him tabbed as a late Day 3 pick, I also find it hard to imagine Allar sliding past the fourth round.
Taking all of those things into consideration, there is one NFL team that makes perfect sense for Allar this April: the New York Jets.
The Jets are in desperate need of a quarterback and own the No. 2 overall pick, but Dante Moore's decision to return to Oregon threw a wrench into things for New York.
Not only that, but Trinidad Chambliss is heading back to Ole Miss for another year, removing a possibility for the Jets with their second first-round selection at No. 16.
New York has four picks in the first two rounds this spring, so it stands to reason that the Jets could nab Allar at some point in Round 2.

It should be noted that the Jets don't have a third-round pick at the moment. In theory, they could potentially take Allar in Round 4, but again, I'm not sure he'll be there. New York could also acquire a third-round draft choice via trade if it feels that Allar will slip to the latter half of Day 2.
Regardless of how the Jets do it, Allar should absolutely be on their radar.
There is no question that the former five-star prospect has the talent to become a franchise quarterback, and while New York doesn't exactly have a bevy of weapons right now, it has tons of cap space and plenty of draft capital to add them.
We keep hearing Allar linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which certainly makes sense given he can learn from Aaron Rodgers in 2026 and then take over as starter the following season.
But with the Jets, Allar would have the opportunity to start rather quickly, and if he can uplift a dismal New York franchise, it would cause his reputation to skyrocket.
Look for the Jets to take a serious look at Allar this week, and don't be surprised if they end up selecting him in a couple of months.
