It is going to become the Pittsburgh Nittany Lions if FOX College Football lead analyst Joel Klatt's latest mock draft comes true.
On Monday, Klatt released his Mock Draft 2.0 and it has Penn State star offensive linemen Vega Ioane landing with a new team for the first time this pre-draft process.
Ioane is the top interior offensive lineman, and he is going to go somewhere between picks 20 and 32. He is almost guaranteed to be a first-round pick and will go to a contending team.
In this draft, Klatt has Ioane going at pick No. 21 to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This selection would be a very solid pick for the Steelers. After winning the AFC North last season by the skin of their teeth, they are trying to turn their attention from winning just one playoff game to making a run at the Lombardi.
To do that, you have to have a great line of scrimmage on both sides of the football. Historically, the Steelers have always had a great offensive line, but that has taken a step back in the last couple of seasons.
In an effort to improve their offensive line, selecting Ioane would go a long way in doing that.
Ioane's calling card as an interior offensive lineman is his athleticism. Ioane could play both guard positions; he was lined up as a tight end, he was sent in motion, and he even saw a couple of pass attempts.
Going Ioane at pick No. 21 would not be the provocative pick, but it would be a very good selection for Pittsburgh.
Furthermore, it would allow them to continue their apparent quest to just remake their team out of former Penn State Nittany Lions.
Currently on the roster is Patt Freiermuth, who has become a bit of a Steelers' legend in his own right. He has been the main target in Pittsburgh since his rookie season in 2021. He has 21 career interceptions and 2,676 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, Joey Porter Jr. is well on the way to taking the torch from his father and becoming a Steelers legend.
Porter is already entering year No. 4 in his Steelers' career, and he has become a lockdown corner. Behind him is his former teammate Jaquan Brisker, who is the newest Steeler.
Brisker signed late last week to join his former teammate in the back of the Pittsburgh defense.
The Steelers are quickly becoming the Nittany Lions of Western Pennsylvania, and adding Ioane would be adding another infinity stone as they continue to collect former Penn State football players.
