There's never a guarantee that players with massive tools will pan out in the NFL, which is likely 95% of the reason Drew Allar, out of Penn State, wasn't a first-round pick.

Allar, who quite literally has every tool that a quarterback could be looking for, has just as much to learn in the NFL as any young quarterback in this league. He can definitely be a very good player, but it's going to take time, and that's why the Pittsburgh Steelers need to give him time and do what's best for the young man.

According to the latest report from one Steelers insider, the early returns have been positive in that regard. He even went as far as to say that it's not as important how Allar plays early on, but more about his development, and that's something I couldn't agree with more.

"With Drew Allar, it's not about where he's starting out, it's where he ends up and how quickly you start to see progress. So you're starting to see some signs in terms of him getting more comfortable with the new footwork,” Mike DeFabo said, H/T Steelers Depot.

"Certainly he needs a fair amount of growth and development and coaching, but I also think they're giving it to him right now," DeFabo said. "When we talked to him after Tuesday's practice, he said that he's starting to feel like he's slowing down and as a result he's able to think more quickly... He's working on his footwork first and foremost, and then you hope that the rest of it comes with it."

Everything about Allar is really just figuring things out and putting those tools together.

Again, that's much easier said than done, but he's learning from some of the best in the business, in Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy. James Franklin and his staff weren't able to get Allar to the top of his game, but we're talking about an all-time great quarterback and a head coach who has proven throughout his career that he can develop guys at a very high level.

I'm excited to see what Allar has to do, as I think this is going to be a perfect scenario for him if things go as planned.
