Penn State's head coach, Matt Campbell, approves of the new upgrades to his new home.
It's been a season of change for the Penn State football program over the past 12 months. First, the team starts losing games they shouldn't, then they move on from long tenured head coach James Franklin, then they hire Matt Campbell and turn their program in a completely new direction.
They weren't quite done yet. The Nittany Lions have been upgrading the aesthetics of their home, Beaver Stadium, to further improve the gameday experience around Penn State football.
Penn State has long had one of the best home environments in college football, and they are only improving it this year.
What is going on now is part of a multi-year, $700M improvement that is happening across multiple years from 2024 through 2027.
The beginning of it started last year when they demolished the press box and vowed to build a new one. They were not stopping there.
Not only was Penn State modernizing the media part of the stadium, but they also went down the path of adding several new options of premium seating, an expanded concourse, and updated concession stands on the upper and main concourses. The final piece of the project is the Lubert Family Welcome Center.
These upgrades to the main Penn State facility are so necessary to the program, and it appears that new head coach Matt Campbell is in full approval.
Penn State social media had some fun with the images of Campbell walking around the stadium in full construction gear, getting his first look at the stadium additions.
His jaunt with the construction crew ended with him giving a nod of approval, saying that this project is "uber impressive and it is a "job well done."
Campbell and his team will get to open their season inside the new facility with all of its upgrades nearly done. The total project will be complete prior to the start of the 2027 season.
Still, some work needs to be done on the new stadium, but Penn State took the leap to modernize its stadium in a much-needed way. This is a blueprint that many other Big Ten Schools may take in the next five to ten years.
