More time is needed for the ex-PSU superstar.
Given that former Penn State star Micah Parsons has been out for the start of the season as he continues to recover from his knee injury a year ago, the Green Bay Packers haven't played that bad of football.
They currently sit at 3-2, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and blowing out the Chicago Bears in Week 5. The Packers face one of their toughest tasks yet, taking on the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
This would have let the former Penn State star play against his old team, though the latest report suggests Parsons still isn't ready, and it might take longer than just this week.
According to head coach Matt LaFleur, while he hasn't given the green light yet, he believes Parsons is getting closer, which is a promising sign for a team that could use all the help it can get as it looks to win a Super Bowl.
“Soon as they give us the green light, he’ll be out there,” LaFleur said, per PFT.
“So, that hasn’t happened yet. But I think we’re getting closer. “There’s a lot of testing that goes on before he gets medically cleared to get out there,” LaFleur added. “And then I’m sure we’re going to want to give him some time to get back to playing football. As you see with most guys who are coming off a major injury, it takes a little bit of time.”
Jerry Jones also spoke about Parsons recently, reflecting on the trade about a year later. He admitted he didn't want to move on from Parsons because of who he is as a player, but he thought it was a wise decision because of the return his team received.
"We did not underestimate (Micah Parsons') ability. It was reinforced when Green Bay gave us all the picks that we got," Jones said. "We're on plan with how we're using those picks. We want to have that show up in success with wins on the field. But nothing about that has surprised me at all. And we wish Micah the best."
Parsons definitely wasn't happy with what the Cowboys did last offseason, failing to pay him before trading him to Green Bay. It would have been interesting to see him on the field, but we'll have to wait for a reunion in the future.
