Former Penn State QB Drew Allar visited an NFC NFL team.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, former Penn State QB Drew Allar visited an NFC NFL team.
The team? The Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals have the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. They won't take Allar with that pick.
However, if Allar is available at 34 in the second round, maybe Arizona takes him then.
Allar played in 45 games for Penn State. He finished with 7,402 passing yards, 61 passing touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing 63.2% of his passes.
The Cardinals parted ways with Kyler Murray this offseason. Their QB room is currently Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew and Kedon Slovis.
NFL analyst Damian Parson of Bleacher Report wrote up his scouting report for Allar and Parson compared Allar to "Daniel Jones with Joe Flacco's arm talent."
"Allar has immense arm talent and strength," Parson wrote. "He generates outstanding velocity and RPMs on those with little to no effort. Allar is a pocket-style quarterback who excels on drive throws and can fit passes into tight windows. He can make every throw in the book.
"Inconsistent mechanics continue to be an issue. He needs to refine his footwork to throw from clean and sound bases. His accuracy and ball placement suffer due to a lack of focus on his footwork. Allar needs to throw with his body aligned with his intended target more often."
Allar has a really strong arm, which every NFL team wants from their starting QB. However, as Parson noted, Allar sometimes gets greedy because of his big arm and often doesn't take what the defense gives him.
"Allar lacks situational awareness in late-game moments," Parson wrote. "His processing is questionable for a senior prospect. He goes after the big, splash plays on 1st-and-10 instead of making the right read. Too often in these bright light situations, Allar locks onto a pre-determined target instead of reading the defense post-snap and finding the open man."
Allar will likely begin his NFL career as a backup. It will be fascinating to see which team takes a chance on him.
The Cardinals hired Mike LaFleur as their new head coach in February. The team went 3-14 last season under Jonathan Gannon.
