Penn State doesn’t have Rocco Becht fully on the field right now, but from the sound of things, he’s still making a great impact on the other players on the roster.

Becht will enter a new environment after coming over from Iowa State with head coach Matt Campbell. While he’s the guaranteed No. 1 in the QB room, Penn State will need him to be as good as it thinks he can be.

For that to happen, Campbell will need to keep getting better all around. It sounds like he’s more than ready to do that.

“I think growing in my leadership, growing in the little things,” Becht said after practice on Tuesday. I could still do my footwork out there. I could still go through the reads. It's all those mental reps and all those footwork things. I can still get better at different things. I know I can throw the ball, I know I can be accurate with it, but it's just all the little things that come before that.

“I think it's great to have me on the sideline, and it's a big step for me, opportunity for me to lead those guys and help them with the plays that they're running on in team reps in 7-on-7… To give them feedback on what I'm seeing, and they take it. They love to be coached. They love to ask questions, and so I think it's been going great the past four weeks,” he said, per the Daily Collegian’s Will Horstman.

Becht is currently dealing with injuries to both of his shoulders. It remains uncertain on an exact day for him to be fully back, but it seems likely that it will be sometime in the near future.

Injuries are never ideal and I hope Becht gets healthy soon. In the same breath, it’s good to see that he’s taking this recovery very seriously and trying to improve on the other things a quarterback can do. With his talent and having the other stuff set, I’d expect him to have a great season in the upcoming season.
