I've said it a lot and I'll continue to say it, but Drew Allar, the former Penn State star who is now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, does need to develop some.

That's not a shot at Allar or a bad thing by any means, but just the reality of where he stands as a player. I'll be interested to see how he looks in a new system, which hopefully throws the football more, but we don't even know if he's going to have a chance to start in Pittsburgh just yet.

Whatever the reason may be for some of his struggles at Penn State, those clearly have to be answered in the NFL, and there are some easier ways to do that than others.

One in specific would be Allar really getting good practices in, which Ray Fittipaldo suggested needs to happen for the Steelers to get the most out of the young man out of Ohio.

"The one thing you do have to think about, the hand injury to Will Howard last year prevented the Steelers from truly seeing what he could do in games, whether that was preseason or later in the season. That's just really unfortunate. So you don't have as much information on him as you need. So, I think they really gotta be creative, guys, practice-wise and training camp," Fittipaldo said during an appearance on “93.7 The Fan,” per Steelers Depot. Even though Aaron likes to practice a lot, I think they gotta find reps for Will Howard and for [Drew] Allar, and they gotta do it in the preseason games as well.

"They have to find out as much information as possible, because if Aaron Rodgers does stay healthy, you have to know where you are with your quarterback room before you invest a first-round pick in 2027, period."

A lot of this relies on Aaron Rodgers returning, which still seems to be a possibility. There hasn't been a firm decision yet on either side, but Allar will definitely be impacted by that. It's possible that he's impacted in a good way, but he definitely wouldn't be the starter if he returns next year.
