Two former Nittany Lion stars represent Penn State and their new teams at the NFL Rookie Premiere
Two former Nittany Lions were front and center for their new teams at the NFL Rookie Premiere, representing Penn State football.
Quarterback Drew Allar and running back Nick Singleton were the two players who were in attendance in Los Angeles for the event, and while maybe a bit of a surprise, they were two of the most impactful Penn State players in the last half-decade.
The biggest draft pick in the 2026 NFL Draft was Vega Ioane, who went in the first round at Pick No. 14 overall. He was a star for the Nittany Lions and was widely regarded as the best interior offensive lineman available in the entire draft.
He went in the first round, but this event is really made for offensive linemen; it is definitely made for skill players and quarterbacks.
For that reason, Penn State's lone representatives were Allar and Singleton.
Allar landed in a very good spot for the development of his young career. In Pittsburgh, he is going to be slotted in the third position behind both Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph, one spot ahead of Will Howard.
Under both Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers, Allar will have the opportunity to rebuild himself from a mechanical and development standpoint without having the expectation of playing winning football.
When he is ready to be a quarterback in this league, if he takes these next couple of years seriously, he will have the opportunity to be a really good player in the NFL.
For Singleton, his landing spot is a bit different. He is going to have to earn his way onto not only the field but the Tennessee roster as a whole. Late-round running backs have proven to be very valuable to the teams that invest in them, but it isn't easy to make the team from that spot.
Running backs are easy to come by, so Singleton has to prove his worth early and often during all of the different opportunities they will have over the next few weeks and months.
A lot of Penn State's players will have to prove their way onto their respective teams. Allar and Ioane are the only ones who are truly safe to make their rosters. The rest of them have some work to do.
For now, it's the former quarterback and running back who represented the Nittany Lions at the next level.
