Penn State quarterback Drew Allar finds himself with the Pittsburgh Steelers, though there was a possibility for other teams to take him in the 2026 NFL Draft. I found it a bit interesting that he fell to the third round in Pittsburgh, but it sounds like there were other teams ready to select him if the Steelers didn't make the decision they did.

According to the latest report, teams like the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles were both eyeing the Penn State star.

“I’ll tell you this, they did a lot of work on quarterbacks, a lot of work,” said one NFL general manager, per Jason La Canfora. “The two teams that quietly did the most work on quarterbacks who already have franchise quarterbacks – and I’m not talking about day three kids - this is (Drew) Allar and (Carson) Beck and (Taylen) Green – I’m telling you it was Baltimore and Philly. They were both in on all these kids.

“Everybody knows how (Eagles general manager) Howie (Roseman) is, and you hear all the stuff about Hurts and this is the last year of his guarantees. He’s always seeing if he can get better, and he took one (drafted a QB). But Baltimore was doing a lot of the same stuff. I thought that was pretty interesting.”

Baltimore was likely just looking for a backup quarterback in this situation, as there would be absolutely no reason to ever think about moving on from a guy like Lamar Jackson.

When it comes to the Eagles, it would probably be very unlikely for them to move on from Jalen Hurts in the near future, though I guess that is a bit more realistic than the Ravens avenue.

Regardless, that isn't how things played out, and Allar will now have an opportunity to hopefully play for a historic franchise in Pittsburgh.
