The Big Ten head coach knows what PSU is about.
Penn State has its biggest game of the season on Saturday, taking on a Wisconsin team that is probably a lot better than people are giving it credit for.
Wisconsin isn't some incredible program that is going to come out and beat Penn State with ease, but Penn State is in for a challenge, even if it should come away with a win.
Penn State can't come out thinking it is going to walk all over its opponent. If it does that, Wisconsin is going to win.
There are many things on Penn State's side, but one of them isn't playing in front of its home crowd. This being the first Big Ten game of Matt Campbell's career, it feels safe to say that the fans are going to be very rowdy.
It should be a great game from top to bottom, something Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell understands. Speaking to reporters about the atmosphere he expects in Happy Valley, he said it's going to be a challenge for his guys.
“There’s no place that can be a wilder, crazier, louder environment than Happy Valley, especially later at night in a game that means a lot,” the Wisconsin Badgers head football coach said, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“We’ve got to recognize this is the start of Big Ten play, and that’s what this has always been about and will continue to be about.…” Fickell said.
“This will be our first time not just going on the road but going on the road where it’s going to be a hostile environment in the Big Ten. We have to be prepared for a lot of different things that we haven’t done, and we haven’t had to do just yet.”
Fickell has been around this game for a very long time and knows what it takes to win at a very high level in the Big Ten.
Many people believe his team is much better than it's getting credit for, and it's tough to disagree. It'll be interesting to see if Wisconsin can compete with Penn State, but I suspect this game is going to be a lot closer than many are anticipating.
