This was proven last week when they went into Bloomington and gave the Indiana Hoosiers everything that they could handle on Friday night. This is an incredibly well coached team under David Braun, who is in his second full season as the head man.
This is a program that has been yearning for the good years it had under Pat Fitzgerald, who was shown the door in 2023 in response to hazing allegations within the program. It opened the opportunity for Braun, who took over the program and has it absolutely on the right track.
For Penn State, they couldn't be getting this game at a worse time. Context is incredibly important in every situation, and in this one, the context is all bad for the Nittany Lions.
It was just last year that the Nittany Lions welcomed the Wildcats into Happy Valley, and Braun's boys beat them, which initiated the conversations that led to James Franklin's firing.
It's also not like the Nittany Lions are rolling into this game with any type of confidence. They just had one of the worst losses to date; their quarterback played the worst game of his five-year college football career, and their best, most explosive wide receiver is still on the injury report.
The energy around each program couldn't be more opposite, and for the Nittany Lions, it couldn't be worse.

Quite literally, everything is pulling against the Nittany Lions in a game that they simply have to win. There is no other way to slice it: they have to win the football game, or else things are going to get even weirder around this program.
It is up to Matt Campbell and his staff to have his guys ready. The Penn State defense has been playing well, but their hands will be full with the uncertain attack that the Wildcats are going to bring. They were running the wing-T last week against Indiana.
