Penn State has landed former Iowa State tight end Benjamin Brahmer in the transfer portal. Brahmer is following head coach Matt Campbell to Penn State.
Brahmer is coming off a junior season at Iowa State, as he hauled in 37 receptions for 446 yards and six touchdowns.
He was also a solid contributor in his freshman season, catching 28 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns. Brahmer had 10 receptions for 179 yards and a touchdown in his sophomore campaign.
He was a three-star recruit out of high school and has been a solid weapon playing under Campbell.
The Nittany Lions had a disappointing season in 2025. They entered the season as one of the favorites to win the National Championship, but struggled early and fired longtime head coach James Franklin.
They brought in Campbell to replace Franklin, and he has been aggressive in adding talent in the transfer portal.
Campbell has had a successful career as a head coach and now joins a Penn State program that needs to turn things around.
He coached at Toledo from 2011 to 2015, going 35-15, winning the 2015 MAC Coach of the Year award. Campbell has spent the last 10 years at Iowa State, going 72-55 and winning three Big 12 Coach of the Year awards.
Brahmer is one of many Iowa State players following Campbell to Penn State.
Quarterback Rocco Becht will visit with the Nittany Lions. Becht completed 60.7 percent of his passes for 9,274 yards, 64 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions across 42 games at Iowa State. He also rushed for 499 yards and 19 touchdowns.
If Becht lands at Penn State, it would benefit Brahmer, as he would come in with familiarity with Campbell as the head coach and have chemistry with the quarterback.
The Nittany Lions have a ton of work to do ahead of the 2026 season. They are a talented program that is expected to be in the College Football Playoff every season. Campbell will look to turn around Penn State after a disappointing 2025 season, and bringing in players like Brahmer from Iowa State will help.
