Penn State's season largely hasn't been what they've been looking for it to be due to some of the injuries they've dealt with.

While there are other factors, such as moving out from James Franklin, we also saw before that the Nittany Lions weren't going to have the year everybody envisioned when entering it.

Perhaps the biggest injury the team faced was to Drew Allar, who underwent successful season-ending surgery on his left ankle.

When speaking to reporters, including Mason Smith of the York Daily Record, Allar stated that he had successful surgery, rehab is off to a good start, and everything is on track as of now.

"I had successful surgery on my left ankle. Rehab is off to a really good start," Allar said. "Right now, it's on a really good track. I have an amazing athletic team here that's helping me out a ton, coaches are helping me out a ton, and I got a great team around me between parents and all that sort of thing that have really helped me through the process so far."

Some have pondered the idea that Allar could return for another season, but it’d take a lot, given he doesn't technically have any eligibility left remaining in the NCAA.

As we’ve seen over the past few years, that doesn't always mean everything in college sports, but it's still something that would have to go through a court process.

According to Allar, it doesn't sound like that's in his plans, as he told reporters that he's been watching a lot of NFL film and is even taking this injury as a blessing in disguise, to get ready for playing at the highest level.

"I agree with Danny O'Brien — I think my best football is ahead of me," Allar said. "I think this injury might be a blessing for me to be able to sit back and reflect on different thing and just learn different things, whether that's offensive or defensive schemes.

"I've been watching a lot of NFL film just to see what it's like, see the different tendencies, and just try to soak up all the knowledge that I can in the process. I'm excited to have a chance to showcase that and just get back on track to playing football again."
