Three Nittany Lions football players land in the top 10 of their position groups on College Football 27.
Football season is quickly approaching, and the first sign of it is the release of the video game, College Football 27.
There is a lot of hype surrounding the game release, and mostly none of it has to do with the Nittany Lions. Penn State is absolutely in prove-it mode for all things college football, as they look to completely rebuild their entire program.
With that said, it is not all bad news for the Nittany Lions, as they did get a little bit of respect.
Three Nittany Lions landed in the top ten players in their position groups: tight end Ben Brahmer, safety Jeremiah Cooper, and kicker Ryan Barker.
Brahmer checked in as the No. 7 tight end in America, and he is one of the most anticipated Nittany Lions on this roster. Brahmer was a critical transfer from Iowa State this offseason, and truthfully, the Nittany Lions' season will go as he goes.
He is going to be an integral part of the success, or lack thereof, that the Nitanny Lions have. In three years at Iowa State, he has registered a combined 75 catches for 997 yards and nine touchdowns. While those numbers don't jump off the page, his final year was a big one. Last year, he had 37 catches for 446 yards and six touchdowns.
He has three years of chemistry with quarterback Rocco Becht, and the hope is that they pick up right where they left off.
On the defensive side of the ball, Cooper checks in as the No. 4 safety in America. Cooper is a really, really exciting prospect for Penn State. He was also a four-year player at Iowa State, and he brings an ability to cover and tackle better than most.
He has zero fear when playing at the line of scrimmage and can cover in the post just as well as a cornerback. He is coming off an injury last year, but two years ago, when he notched 14 games, he finished with 48 tackles, two interceptions, and one tackle for loss.
Cooper is going to be a very important part of the Penn State defense.
Special Teams is a third of the game, and it makes coaches and fans sleep well at night when they know they have one of the best kickers in the country. Penn State has that with Ryan Barker.
Barker is entering his third year in the program and has been very good so far. He is 92 for 94 in extra points in his career and is 32 for 37 kicking field goals. Last year, he was 18 for 19 in field goals.
Penn State's top players in all three phases will lead the Nittany Lions to what is hopefully a season filled with a bunch of wins.
