Drew Allar will hear his name called in the 2026 NFL Draft; the only question is to where, and all 32 teams are on the board.
Drew Allar's journey to the NFL has been a very unique one. He went from a surefire Top-10 pick to a day two or day three selection.
As a prospect, he is a very puzzling evaluation. He is quite literally built to be an NFL quarterback. He is a 6-foot-5, 240 lbs. prototypical build, cannon for an arm, athletic as can be quarterback that, for some reason, struggles to be elite.
His film is confusing because while at Penn State, he seemed to be in total control, but he struggles to read defenses consistently, but when he does, he'll miss layup throws from time to time.
He is very much a developmental prospect, and if the right team gets their hands on him, he could grow into something very special. The good part for him is that the entire NFL is on the board. Here are his top-three landing spots.
3. San Fransisco 49ers
Now this would be a fascinating move from San Francisco. It would signal that they are in a position to move their current backup, Mac Jones, but that's besides the point right now. What would be amazing is if they take a flyer on the former Nittany Lion later in the Draft and he can go straight into quarterback school with Kyle Shanahan.
This would be an incredible introduction to the NFL, and it would make him a very coveted trade piece in a year or two. Mechanically, he would be totally fixed; he would get a doctorate in processing and have the tools to become a really nice player.
2. Los Angeles Chargers
Believe it or not, Allar is nearly a carbon copy of Justin Herbert from a physical standpoint. Herbert was on another planet developmentally, coming out of college, hence why he went in the first round.
For Allar, this would be great to go out to Los Angeles and develop under Herbert and get the same coaching that he receives to try and model his game around what Herbert does.
For the Chargers, this might also be a win if they can get Allar to a nice spot, and then they don't have to change their offense if they were ever to need it.
1. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams could possibly be in the quarterback market this draft, and if they are, their eyes should be on Allar. For Allar, he should be praying that this is a reality.
If Allar gets under the coaching of Sean McVay, then he will become legitimately one of the most wanted players in a year or two. The other reality is that the Rams know that Matthew Stafford's time is coming up. They could snag a big ball of clay and take a chance on him. If they guess right, when Stafford retires, they will be able to hand the baton off to him without missing a step.
This seems like a very logical move that the Rams could make in this draft so that they are potentially future-proofed.
