Trevor Svajda shines with another singles victory, but Florida secures the team win at the ITA National Indoors, highlighting SMU's elite talent.

SMU men’s tennis wrapped up its run at the ITA National Indoor Championship on Sunday with a 4-1 loss to No. 23 Florida at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex, but the Mustangs once again showcased the strength at the top of their lineup.

Junior standout Trevor Svajda continued his red-hot spring, remaining unbeaten in singles with a convincing straight-sets victory over No. 54 Adhitya Ganesan.

Playing on court one, Svajda controlled the tempo from the baseline and secured a 6-1, 7-5 win, improving to 8-0 in singles this spring.

Even more impressive, all eight of his victories have come in straight sets, and Sunday’s triumph marked his fourth ranked win of the dual season.

While Svajda delivered once again, Florida capitalized elsewhere to secure the team victory.

The Gators grabbed early momentum by clinching the doubles point. Florida’s duo of Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini rolled to a 6-1 win over Jerry Barton and Krish Arora on court three. Moments later, Henry Jefferson and Lorenzo Claverie edged Svajda and Alex Finkelstein 6-4 on court one to seal the opening point for Florida.

In singles play, the Mustangs needed to build off Svajda’s dominance, but Florida proved too deep.

Henry Jefferson defeated Alex Finkelstein 6-4, 6-4 on court two, while No. 32 Pablo Perez Ramos handled Krish Arora 7-6(4), 6-3 on court four. Kevin Edengren added another straight-sets victory, topping Meethre Barot 6-3, 6-0 on court six to clinch the match.

Despite Sunday’s setback, SMU finished the prestigious indoor championship with a 1-2 record, highlighted by a marquee win over No. 22 Arizona State on Saturday. That victory marked the program’s first triumph at the ITA National Indoor Championship since 2000 - a significant milestone for head coach Grant Chen’s squad.

The Mustangs now shift their focus back to regular-season dual play. SMU will return to the courts at Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex next Saturday to host Abilene Christian, looking to build momentum behind Svajda’s elite form and a lineup that continues to gain experience against top-25 competition.

With postseason aspirations on the horizon, SMU men’s tennis proved this weekend it can compete on the national stage ... and with Trevor Svajda anchoring court one, the Mustangs have a foundation to build on moving forward.
