SMU women’s golf heads to the Chevron Collegiate in Houston with Mackenzie Lee and Emily Odwin leading a nationally ranked Mustang squad.

DALLAS - The SMU Mustangs head to Humble, Texas, for the Chevron Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston, facing a stacked 17-team field loaded with top-100 programs and national contenders.

For a team ranked No. 31 by Scoreboard and slotted No. 27 in Golfweek’s preseason poll, this is more than another tournament. It’s a resume opportunity.

And SMU has the firepower. Mackenzie Lee continues to redefine excellence on the Hilltop. The senior owns a program-best 71.56 career scoring average and already holds eight school records.

She’s fresh off earning the 2026 ACC Excellence Award and sits No. 45 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Lee has topped 400 career birdies and boasts 22 career top-10 finishes.

Oh, and she’s heading back to Augusta National Women’s Amateur after an 11th-place finish last year.

Emily Odwin isn’t far behind. The Barbados native carries a 72.31 career scoring mark - second best in program history - and leads the team this season.

Odwin recently became the first Barbados-born golfer to compete in the U.S. Women’s Open and advanced to the final stage of LPGA Q-Series qualifying. She’s ranked No. 92 in the world amateur standings and has 10 career top-10 finishes.

Celine Chen (73.70 career average) gives SMU another proven scorer, currently posting a 72.93 mark this season.

Grace Jin, the 2025 Texas Women’s Player of the Year, and Kirra St-Laurent add depth to a lineup that returned 94 percent of its rounds at par or better from last year’s NCAA Regional squad.

Under fifth-year head coach Lauren Mason, the Mustangs are chasing consistency and contention. Last season’s group produced one of the lowest scoring averages in program history and three tournament wins.

Now comes Houston ... a loaded field, championship-caliber competition, and another chance for SMU women’s golf to prove it belongs among the nation’s elite.
