Evan Brown, Kylen Granson, Matthew Hibner and other former SMU Mustangs will be in action across a busy NFL Sunday in Week 3.
UNIVERSITY PARK - SMU football will have several familiar names to follow across the NFL on Sunday, with former Mustangs contributing on both sides of the ball.
Veteran offensive lineman Evan Brown headlines the group as Houston faces Indianapolis. Brown has started both games for the Texans this season and continues to provide experience in the middle of an offensive line trying to settle in early in 2026.
The former SMU standout has now appeared in more than 80 NFL games during a career that has included stops with Detroit, Seattle and Arizona.
In Tennessee, Kylen Granson will be part of the Titans’ tight end rotation against the New York Giants.
Granson joined Tennessee during the offseason after spending 2025 with Philadelphia and his first four NFL seasons with Indianapolis.
During his SMU career, he became one of the most productive tight ends in school history, finishing with 78 receptions for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Baltimore rookie Matthew Hibner is another Mustang worth watching when the Ravens face Dallas. Hibner has already recorded his first NFL reception, a 13-yard catch in the season opener, after finishing his college career at SMU.
The Cowboys also have an SMU connection in rookie wide receiver Jordan Hudson, who remains on Dallas’ active roster entering Sunday’s matchup with Baltimore.
Hudson was one of Kevin Jennings’ primary targets during his time on the Hilltop and now begins the process of carving out a role at the professional level.
Former SMU defensive tackle Elijah Chatman will also be in action for Cleveland against Carolina.
Chatman has already built NFL experience after entering the league as an undrafted free agent and gives the Mustangs another representative in the trenches Sunday.
SMU’s NFL footprint may not be as large as some Power Four programs, but it continues to grow.
Sunday offers another reminder that the pipeline from Dallas to the NFL is becoming increasingly visible.
