Here’s how to watch SMU vs Miami (Ohio) as the Mustangs open their NCAA Tournament run in Dayton against one of college basketball’s highest-scoring teams.

DALLAS - How to watch SMU vs Miami (OH) is suddenly a question a lot of Mustangs fans are asking, and for good reason.

SMU basketball is back in the NCAA Tournament, opening in the First Four against a Miami (OH) team that has spent the season lighting up scoreboards and piling up wins.

It’s a fascinating matchup in Dayton because this game has two very different identities crashing into each other at full speed.

SMU faces Miami (OH) on Wednesday night in Dayton, Ohio, with tipoff set for 8:15 p.m. CT. The Mustangs enter as a 7.5-point favorite, and the over/under is 163.5, which tells you everything about the kind of pace oddsmakers expect.

SMU comes in at 20-13 after grinding through ACC play, while Miami (Ohio) rolls in at 31-1 and full of confidence after steamrolling much of the MAC.

The RedHawks average a blistering 90.7 points per game, which makes them one of the most explosive offensive teams in the country. That puts immediate pressure on the Mustangs to control tempo and avoid turning this into a pure track meet.

The Mustangs do have answers. Kevin Miller leads the charge for SMU, averaging 19.2 points, 6.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while Jaron Pierre Jr. has been pouring in 17.9 points per game over his last 10 outings.

Inside, Samet Yigitoglu gives SMU a major rebounding presence at 7.9 boards per game, and that size could matter against a Miami team that thrives more on execution than brute force.

For the RedHawks, Peter Suder is the tone-setter, averaging 14.6 points while shooting an absurd 55.4 percent from the field, and Eian Elmer has added 14.8 points per game over the last 10.

This one could get wild in a hurry. If SMU turns it into a physical game and wins the glass, the Mustangs should like their chances. If Miami gets loose offensively, buckle up.
