SMU basketball stars Boopie Miller and Jaron Pierre Jr. are cashing in on huge seasons with NABC All-District honors as the Mustangs chase March momentum.
This season's SMU Mustangs boast a power duo that has led a surge in the season.
Boopie Miller and Jaron Pierre Jr. have officially earned NABC All-District honors, another sign that the Mustangs’ rise under Andy Enfield isn’t some random flash. It’s the result of a veteran guard tandem that has carried this team into the national conversation and pushed SMU back into the NCAA Tournament spotlight.
Miller's season has been flat-out electric. The senior guard has averaged 19.2 points, 6.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 47.0 percent from the floor, 41.0 percent from three, and 87.1 percent at the line.
His first-team NABC All-District selection feels like a natural next step for a player who’s been delivering all season, including late-game daggers and the kind of poise every March team needs.
Then there’s Pierre, who has given SMU a second scorer defenses can’t relax against for even a second. He’s putting up 17.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, while knocking down 37.8 percent from deep and piling up 13 games with at least 20 points.
His second-team All-District nod confirms what anyone watching already knew ... he’s been one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the ACC.
And the bigger picture matters here. SMU was 20-13 in the regular season, back in the NCAA field for the first time since 2017, and averaging 84.2 points per game while shooting 49.0 percent overall and 37.4 percent from 3.
That kind of offense travels, especially when it’s led by experienced guards who know how to take over games.
For SMU basketball, these awards aren’t just nice recognition. They’re proof the Mustangs have real firepower, and with Miller and Pierre leading the way, they’re not showing up in March just to make an appearance.
