Bryson DeChambeau’s late LIV Golf Korea charge fell one shot short, but the former SMU star still left Busan with a team win.
Bryson DeChambeau didn’t leave LIV Golf Korea with the individual trophy, but the former SMU Mustangs star still reminded everyone why he remains one of golf’s most dangerous closers.
DeChambeau, who played college golf at SMU before becoming one of the sport’s biggest names, made a furious Sunday push in Busan and finished just one shot out of the playoff.

His final round was tied for the lowest score of the day, giving him a real chance to steal the tournament after an uneven weekend.
The two-time U.S. Open champion opened the week with a 5-under 65 and looked ready to defend his title.
Then Saturday hit. Four bogeys knocked him backward and left him chasing instead of controlling the tournament.
Still, DeChambeau didn’t fold.
He came out firing in the final round with five birdies through his first 11 holes, putting himself back in the mix.
A costly bogey at No. 12 slowed the charge, and one more birdie wasn’t enough to catch Talor Gooch and eventual champion Joaquin Niemann.
For SMU fans, it was another reminder of the program’s reach. DeChambeau’s path from Dallas to major championships and LIV contention continues to give the Mustangs a high-profile presence on the global golf stage.
There was also a consolation prize.
DeChambeau’s Crushers GC won the team title by three shots over OKGC, helped by strong weeks from Charles Howell III and Travis Smyth, who both tied for eighth.
Smyth was in the lineup as a replacement for the injured Paul Casey.
DeChambeau admitted afterward that a few pushed shots cost him when the tournament was there to be grabbed.
That frustration is real. So is the bigger picture.

After missing the cut at both The Masters and the PGA Championship, DeChambeau needed momentum. He found some in Korea, even without the solo win.
Now the former Mustang heads forward with something to prove.
