DALLAS - The SMU Invitational is back in Dallas, and the Mustangs are adding something new to the show.
SMU will host 18 teams Friday and Saturday at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium in the final regular-season meet before the Mustangs shift into championship mode.

The event returned last year after a 27-year absence, and now it’s becoming another strong home showcase for SMU track and field.
The meet begins Friday with field events at 4 p.m. and running events at 6:30 p.m.
Competition resumes Saturday with field events at 8:30 a.m. and running events at noon. SMU will honor its seniors at 4 p.m. Saturday.
One of the biggest storylines is the debut of SMU’s new Wavelight pacing system, which will be used in most races of 800 meters and longer.
The visual pacing technology gives runners a real-time guide around the track, helping athletes manage pace and effort more precisely.
Head coach A’Havahla Haynes called the system a major step forward for the program.
“We are excited to introduce our new Wavelight System — it is a game changer for how our athletes train and compete,” Haynes said.
“It gives real time, visual pacing that takes the guess work out of effort and helps build workout consistency and pace awareness. It turns preparation into precision.”
For SMU, the timing is ideal. The Mustangs are using this weekend as one final tune-up before the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship in mid-May.
