SMU diver Luke Sitz added another historic honor after his NCAA title and runner-up finish, earning 2026 CSCAA Men’s Diver of the Year recognition.

DALLAS - SMU diver Luke Sitz keeps adding to one of the best seasons in program history.

The sophomore standout was named the 2026 CSCAA Men’s Diver of the Year after a breakthrough campaign that turned him into one of the biggest stories in college diving.

For SMU, the award is another major milestone, with Sitz becoming the first Mustang to claim the national honor.

Luke Sitz put SMU diving on the map in a huge way at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. He captured the NCAA title on 1-meter with a score of 428.10, giving the Mustangs their first national championship in that event.

He nearly doubled up with another title on 3-meter, where he finished second after posting a school-record 495.30 in the final, missing first place by just 2.45 points.

That NCAA performance was the clearest sign yet of how quickly Sitz has developed.

One year earlier, he placed seventh at nationals as a freshman. By the end of this season, he’d become an NCAA champion, a silver medalist and a first-team All-American in both springboard events.

His dominance didn’t stop there. Sitz also delivered SMU’s first individual ACC title, winning the 1-meter conference crown with a then-school-record 429.75.

He added a bronze medal on 3-meter and collected five ACC Diver of the Week awards during the 2025-26 season. That pushed his career total to 11, already one of the top marks in conference history.

Outside the college season, Sitz continued to build his resume on the national and international stage. He earned three podium finishes at the 2025 USA Diving Winter Nationals and picked up two more medals at the 2025 World University Games.

For SMU, this isn’t just a hot streak. It looks like the rise of a star with staying power.
