SMU heads to Louisville with 16 athletes for the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, leaning on confidence, culture and rising standards.

SMU track and field heads to the ACC Outdoor Championship this week with momentum, confidence and a roster ready to make its mark in Louisville.

The Mustangs will compete Thursday through Saturday at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park in Louisville, Kentucky, as they make their second appearance at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

SMU is sending 16 athletes to the meet, giving the program another chance to measure itself against one of the nation’s deepest track and field conferences.

For head coach A’Havahla Haynes, the biggest story isn’t just the qualifying marks or event entries. It’s the energy this group has built.

Haynes said the Mustangs have created a competitive edge that can be felt across the team, with upperclassmen helping raise expectations for the entire program.

That kind of leadership matters in a championship setting, especially for an SMU team still building its identity in the ACC.

This weekend is another important step for the Mustangs as they continue adapting to the conference stage.

The ACC Championship brings a higher level of depth, pressure and opportunity, and SMU’s roster will get three days to show how far it has come.

The meet begins Thursday and runs through Saturday, with live results available throughout the competition and coverage on ACC Network.

For SMU, the weekend is about more than chasing times, marks and points. It’s about proving that the program’s growing belief can travel.

The Mustangs enter Louisville with a smaller but focused group, and that can matter at a meet where every attempt, every race and every finish carries weight.

SMU has spent the season building toward this moment. Now the Mustangs get a chance to turn momentum into results at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
