SMU volleyball landed Kansas transfer Ellie Moore, adding a young setter with a championship pedigree and three years of eligibility.

SMU volleyball just added another intriguing piece to its 2026 roster.

Head coach Sam Erger announced the signing of Kansas transfer setter Ellie Moore, giving the Mustangs a young, competitive option with three years of eligibility remaining.

For a program looking to keep stacking depth and versatility, this is exactly the kind of transfer addition that can matter over a long season.

Moore spent the last two years at Kansas, where she redshirted last season after seeing action as a freshman in 2024. In 12 matches and 16 sets, she recorded nine assists and six digs while also earning Big 12 Academic All-Rookie honors.

That’s not a massive stat line, but it’s not the full story either.

The 5-foot-9 Darien, Connecticut native brings a strong winning background from Darien High School, where she was a four-year starter and two-year captain.

While she played primarily as an outside hitter in high school, her move into the setter role gives SMU an athlete with a wider lens for the game.

Moore helped lead Darien to a perfect 28-0 season and the 2023 CIAC state championship as a senior. That kind of resume matters. She’s been in pressure spots, helped drive an unbeaten team and understands what winning is supposed to feel like.

Her club background also adds weight. Moore played for Northeast Volleyball Club and earned spots on the 2022 and 2023 JVA Watch Lists, along with the 2022 AVCA Phenom List.

There’s a family angle, too. Her twin sister, Aubrey Moore, is a junior setter at Boston College, giving the Moore name a strong college volleyball connection.

Ellie Moore joins an SMU transfer group that already includes Suli Davis, Victoria Harris and Gabi Placide.

The Mustangs aren’t just filling spots.

They’re building competition, and Moore gives Erger another setter with toughness, athletic range and room to grow.
