SMU Volleyball is getting another marquee home-stage moment.
The Mustangs will host Texas on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Moody Coliseum in the second annual Showdown at the Net, ESPN Events announced Thursday.
The matchup is part of a 16-match ACC vs. SEC volleyball showcase running Sept. 8-10 across ESPN platforms.
For SMU, it’s another chance to prove Moody Coliseum can be a problem for national powers.
Last year, the Mustangs swept eventual national champion Texas A&M in the same event, with Jadyn Livings delivering 14 kills and Favor Anyanwu controlling the net with eight blocks.
Now Texas comes to Dallas with one of the sport’s strongest resumes. The Longhorns have reached 22 straight NCAA Tournaments, advanced to last year’s Regional Final and own five national championships.
SMU isn’t exactly sneaking into this one, either. The Mustangs have made three consecutive NCAA Tournaments and reached the Regional Semifinals last season for the first time in program history.
That gives this matchup real weight, not just regional bragging rights.
Texas leads the all-time series 5-1, but SMU’s lone win came at home in 2000. The teams are 1-1 against each other inside Moody Coliseum, and their last regular-season meeting came in 2011.

The Sept. 9 slate also includes North Carolina at Kentucky, Missouri at Louisville, Miami at Florida, Alabama at Virginia, Vanderbilt at Boston College and Arkansas at Syracuse.
The showcase wraps with two ESPN2 matches from Orlando: Pitt vs. Tennessee at 6 p.m. CT and Stanford vs. Texas A&M at 8:30 p.m. CT. Times and networks for the other matches will be announced later.
